Join Our Mission at Cascadia Health!

At Cascadia Health, we deliver whole health care – integrated mental health and addiction services, primary care, and housing – to promote hope and support the well-being of the communities we serve. We envision a community where everyone benefits from whole health care, experiences well-being, and has a self-directed, connected life.

About the Role:

We are excited to announce an opening for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Street Outreach Team (SOT) and Housing Outreach Team (HOT). In this essential role, you will be responsible for maintaining excellent and timely patient support. You will support providers in the examination and treatment of psychiatric patients in community-based settings and patients' homes. This role involves detailed communication, both verbally and through our EMR system, and assisting providers in maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Support: Assist providers in various community-based settings, both indoors and outdoors, by obtaining patient assessments and recording vital signs, chief complaints, and medical histories.
  • Clinical Tasks: Perform diagnostic procedures, administer point-of-care testing, maintain clinical supplies, and assist with minor medical procedures under provider direction.
  • Communication: Deliver accurate messages between patients and providers, manage medication refills, and provide educational materials to patients.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) and assist in securing prior authorizations from insurance companies.
  • Community Engagement: Initiate and maintain relationships with community resources and agencies, and support the coordination of treatment processes.
  • Training and Compliance: Regularly support compliance and accreditation efforts, complete annual training requirements, and participate in staff meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Patient Advocacy: Assist patients with self-administration of medications, make appointments, and provide follow-up support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant school. Must be certified as a Medical Assistant from an accredited certifying organization (NCCT or AAMA).
  • Experience: Two years of relevant medical clinic experience preferred. Six months' prior experience as a medical assistant preferred. Experience with Epic EHR is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to work with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorder challenges, collaborate effectively, and utilize a trauma-informed approach.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid certifications required and must remain current.
  • Other Requirements: Must possess a valid driver license and become approved to drive per Cascadia driving policy, passing a DMV driving history check

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in community and clinical settings.

  • Must handle variable workflow, manage time effectively, and assist the team with day-to-day functions of community outreach programs.
  • Physical demands include assisting the team in providing safety to clients and staff in potentially volatile situations.

Benefits:

We offer generous benefits for our full-time and part-time employees (20 hours pro-rated) including:

  • Generous Paid Time Off Package: Full-time employees earn 6 weeks of PTO in their first year!
  • Medical and Dental Coverage (begins 1st of the month following 30 days after hire date)

  • Paid Bereavement and Jury Duty Leave
  • Length of Service Award
  • Voluntary Life Insurance
