We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team! Working collaboratively with and reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day transactional accounting for Castilleja School. This is a key position and the person will be an integral part of the Business Office team. This position is responsible for processing a high volume of transactions coming from multiple areas of the organization. The position requires effective organizational and time-management skills, and a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, critical thinking, and confidentiality while meeting time-sensitive deadlines. This is a full-time, benefited, exempt position. Responsibilities:
Prepare bank deposits
Prepare bank reconciliations
Produce payroll & benefits journal entries and record in Veracross
Reconcile all payroll related general ledger accounts
Work with the payroll & benefits manager to configure General Ledger import of Paycom data
Support month-end close efforts
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Serve as the backup for Paycom payroll
Assume benefit reconciliation responsibilities from Payroll and Benefits Manager
Other Duties may include but are not limited to:
Produce monthly budget reports
Prepare journal entries
Reconcile bank accounts
Provide support documentation for audits
Record and deposit funds received by the Advancement Department
Reconcile monthly between the Business Office and Advancement record
Record pledge payments as received and maintain Business Office pledge payment schedules
Accounts Payable
Manage the full cycle of AP (weekly check runs, expense reports, wire payments, and ACH payments)
Maintain A/P files
Prepare 1099s annually

Undergraduate degree, preferably in business or accounting.
Five years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or school setting
Additional Qualifications:
Solid knowledge of GAAP principles
CPA preferred
Experience with Veracross, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
