Summary of Performance Expectations:

Responsible for determining the financial eligibility for patients without or with limited insurance coverage. The role of medical interpreter for CVHS is to facilitate the exchange of communication between a patient and a provider as verbatim as possible in consideration of cultural practices, context, slang, and linguistic variation. Excellent oral communication skills and ability to exercise sensitivity and patience in interactions with patients, families, and staff in stressful situations while maintaining confidentiality, and awareness of cultural differences.

Education & Credentials:

Required

High School diploma or equivalent. Certification from an independent medical interpreter school or program

Preferred

Associate degree in Business Administration or Social Services.

Work Experience:

Required

Two or more years direct customer service experience. Knowledge of medical financial assistance agencies. Demonstrated proficiency of record keeping and interviewing. Ability to read, analyze and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Given experience and on-the-job training, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the position within three months. of employment date.

Preferred

Knowledge of financial eligibility programs, copay assistance programs and drug replacement programs. Experience in all Microsoft Office products, Meditech Experience
