We are looking for a dynamic Strategic Communication Specialist to join our team. The Strategic Communication Specialist will develop communications content materials including, but not limited to, key messages, talking points, blogs/articles, scripts, social media content, and copy for visual materials. The Strategic Communication Specialist will compile all communication toolkits to include delivery schedules and associated written and visual content. They will also conduct stakeholder engagement for research to support effective communications and experience in digital marketing, including metrics gathering and analysis required.
  • Preferred location: National Capital Region
  • This position is contingent upon award.
Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of and capable of performing a wide range of multimedia support functions, such social media content/plans, digital production and editing and/or coordination of streaming roundtable broadcasts
  • Ability to set up and operate professional audio and/or video recording equipment
  • Assists in development and/or prepares presentation materials
  • Contribute to the continued development and maintenance of projects
  • Clearly communicate details among cross-functional teams (digital production, curriculum, design, event management, administrative) to ensure implementation alignment
  • Distill input from the team and collaborators, developing the best approach for incorporating feedback into project executions
  • Collaborate with all Digital Production team members to define and manage goals, scope, specific deliverables, and scheduling needs
  • Facilitate aggressive timelines and proactively address bottlenecks
  • Ensure efficient and timely production of all project elements
  • Assist Senior Manager with coordination and implementation of various communication initiatives, including:
  • Production Lifecycle Planning/ Scheduling: Assist Lead with pre-production scheduling, determining the number of days, scheduling shoot dates, and determine call times; manage production schedules and timelines
  • Digital/Social: Ability to create posts in various mediums for various platforms. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS; proficiency in social media and other digital marketing tools and strategies
  • Communications: Ability to write, edit, proofread and copywrite communication plans, press releases, blogs and article
  • Audio/Visual: Strong familiarity with production equipment (photography, video, audio), streaming platforms and conferencing (OBS, Webex, Teams, Zoom)
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Production, Advertising or Communications
  • 7 years of experience
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficient SharePoint
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (specifically PowerPoint), Acrobat PRO, analytics tools, and social networking platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (writing, editing, proofreading and copywriting)
  • Excellent project management skills; strong attention to detail, and high work standards
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team with a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with 508 Accessibility Compliance (web, document, graphic/image)
  • Able to obtain a minimum of NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries) for a Veterans Affairs Public Trust Tier 3 Clearance

  • Can effectively organize information
  • Strong interest in gathering and analyzing data
  • Ability to synthesize information

  • Graphic design experience
  • Government contracting experience
  • DoD and VA experience as a contractor or otherwise
  • Former military experience
