Description

General Responsibilities

1. Attend agency training events as required.
2. Provide on-site supervision and instruction as directed by Director.
3. Ensure that Hope House and Addison building are in proper working order as directed by supervisor.
4. Assist with contractors, volunteers and facilities staff as needed.
5. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Essential Functions

1. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all areas of the building(s) as directed, using the work order system.
2. Schedule regular checkups on equipment and the building to maintain compliance with all city and health department requirements.
3. Perform an annual physical inventory of all center property and equipment.
4. Maintain agency building materials, supplies and equipment and purchase replacement items as required ensuring adequate on-site inventory as directed.
5. Oversee maintenance volunteer projects as directed.
6. Maintain outside area including, but not limited to:

• Sweeping sidewalks around building.
• Ensure snow from sidewalks prior to the staff arrival at the office.
• Planting and watering flowers.
• Removing garbage and other debris from parking lot.
• Trim weeds and bushes. 

Requirements

1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in facility maintenance or comparable work experience is required.
2. General knowledge of facilities and custodial equipment and procedures; some knowledge of general maintenance preferred.
3. Flexible, organized, motivated and can work independently. 
4. Passage of complete background clearance, physical and Tuberculosis (TB) Test. 
5. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, has adopted and follows the Codes of Ethics established by Catholic Charities USA, the National Association of Social Workers and the American Psychological Association. As an employee of the Agency you are expected to support these codes to the extent doing so is consistent with and allowed by applicable law.
6. A valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required.
