General Responsibilities

  1. Provides administrative oversight for the center ensuring the delivery of quality services to children and families.
  2. Contributes to the recruiting and enrollment of eligible children and families.
  3. Coordinates with other Agency division to best utilize resources.
  4. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for maintaining the quality of service to Head Start’s primary, internal and external customers.
  2. Directly supervises site personnel custodial staff and to food associate staff members with assistance of Assistant Site Supervisor (if applicable to location) and conduct monthly staff meetings.
  3. Monitors all account receivables and collection of parent payments as applicable and all center expenditures to remain within allocated budgets.
  4. Assists with recruitment and enrollment of eligible children and families, assisting with developmental screenings as needed.
  5. Works to enhance parent involvement and Monitors child and family records (electronic or hard copycoordinate monthly parent meetings.) to ensure that all program requirements are being met, and is responsible for maintaining federal, state, and local regulations.
  6. Coordinate the needs of site staff on a daily basis as it relates to emergency leave, staff/parent concerns, and building emergencies.
  7. Conducts classroom observations on a monthly basis.
  8. Provides training and guidance to staff as needed for each to be able to perform their work responsibilities to meet program expectations.
  9. Works closely with all Head Start staff as a team member and contributes knowledge and expertise to the overall functioning of the team, interacting with program managers as needed.
  10. Participates in seminars, staff meetings, and training workshops and various committees related to program policies and practices.
  11. Attends Administrative Team Meetings and Site Supervisor’s Meetings.
  12. Monitors hygiene of kitchen, classrooms, and washrooms on a daily basis. Monitor building and grounds to ensure safety throughout the facility.
  13. Coordinates with other divisions within the Agency by providing training and technical assistance, in order to implement the Program Performance Standards as required by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
  14. Articulates to outside individuals, agencies, and potential customers, making program and Agency presentations to groups for the purpose of collaboration, recruitment, and developing community linkages, communicating the values, philosophy and mission of Head Start, and serving as an advocate for Head Start families in the community.
  15. Conducts interviews of site staff and for other program positions as requested with administrative staff.
  16. Assists in developing and maintaining a lending library and other services to families as specified by Head Start guidelines.

Requirements:
  1. Master’s degree is required for this position with preference in the areas of early childhood education or related field with thirty (36) college course hours in early childhood, required. All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval.
  2. A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children and families is required.
  3. Prior supervisory experience is required.
  4. Prior bookkeeping experience, preferred.
  5. Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) reliability within one (1) year of employment.
  6. Ability to apply professional expertise to the needs of children, parents, and staff.
  7. Ability to work independently and to accept increased levels of responsibility.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and constructively with persons from all racial, diverse cultures, family systems, and social backgrounds.
  9. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  10. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  11. Passage of complete background clearance, physical and Tuberculosis (TB) Test.
  12. A valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required.
