Catholic Charities of South Carolina is Hiring a Full-time Elementary Instructional Assistant Near Columbia, SC

Position: Full-time Elementary Instructional Assistant to join the St. Martin de Porres Catholic School Family.

St Martin de Porres Catholic School in Columbia, SC, is accepting applications for a teaching assistant in a Montessori classroom for the 2024-2025 school year.

St Martin de Porres Catholic School is a small, mission focused school serving students in grades K3 through 6. St Martin’s is served by a team of experienced, dedicated lay and religious teachers, and offers a wonderful work environment and a welcoming atmosphere. We are both family and community focused.

The ideal candidate would be bi-lingual (Spanish), with prior experience working with children. Candidates must be able to work well with children, accept supervision and guidance from the lead teacher, and possess the enthusiasm and energy necessary to help young students thrive. This position is full time and paid hourly, and no teaching license or certification is necessary. Training and/or professional development in the Montessori method will be provided if needed or desired as this position has the opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Desired Qualifications:

Applicants should have an understanding of the Catholic faith or be willing to learn about the Catholic faith.

– Create a positive, Christ-centered classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth.
– Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional activities with the lead teacher that facilitate active learning and reflect the Catholic faith.
– Willingness to learn how to integrate Catholic values and teachings into the curriculum.
– Uphold the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church in both curriculum and daily interactions.

– Commitment to ongoing personal faith development.
