Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend is Hiring an Accounting Clerk (Fort Wayne, IN) Near Fort Wayne, IN

Position: Accounting ClerkDepartment: FinanceReports to: ControllerSupervises: NoneFLSA and Employee Status: Full Time, Non-ExemptPosition Summary: The Accounting Clerk ensures accurate billing and detailed reporting of the agency’s contracts and services. On the finance team, the Accounting Clerk processes various forms, billings, and reports for the functioning of the finance department. They prepare and submit quarterly reports for several contracts related to our agency’s provided services and programs. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly reports for billing (government contracts, program contracts, and foundations)
    • Verifies documents submitted by program staff
    • Submits various Federal and State contract billings
    • Records and tracks contract balance and payment history
    • Updates and monitors spenddowns and collaborates with program staff to ensure the proper implementation of Federal and State grants
    • Resolves any billing or payment issues with various grantees
    • Organizes and maintains necessary documentation for billing and contracts
  • Processes cash sheets and receipts, period end reports, counseling department billing, and follows up on EOB
  • Assists with expense tracking for events, programs, and departments
  • Assists with allocation schedules for the accounting department
  • Prepares various reports and schedules for compliance with the annual audit and budget process
  • Works cooperatively with the fiscal team and CPA firm for the annual audit; works with other auditors from various funding agencies for the annual audit
  • Participates in quarterly all-staff meetings and educational training activities to improve professional, job-related skills
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree from an accredited university and/or 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with automated accounting systems (SAGE preferred)
  • Experience with non-profit or fund accounting preferred
  • Experience working with multiple sites and departments preferred
Skills:
  • Excellent multitasker
  • Ability to establish work priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be a team player in the finance department and the agency as a whole
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office 365
Conditions Of Employment:
  • Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • If your position requires you to transport clients, staff members, or volunteers with your personal vehicle as needed, it is required that you have a reliable vehicle with personal vehicle liability insurance coverage per person and per occurrence.
  • If your position does not require you to transport clients, staff members, or volunteers with your personal vehicle, or such transportation is restricted to use of agency vehicles, your personal vehicle liability insurance coverage must be at least per person and per occurrence.
  • Successful completion of federal and state background checks
  • Successful completion of child welfare screening
  • Successful completion of drug and Mantoux (TB) screens
  • Comply with the agency’s mission, code of ethics, Catholic Social Teaching, policies and procedures, and confidentiality
