St. Vincent-St. Mary High School Job Title: High School Computer Science / Math Teacher Reports to: Principal Department: Academics Revised: May 30, 2024 Job Summary: Plan, implement, and promote rigorous, relevant, and industry-aligned computer science instruction based on the curriculum. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. Guide students toward the attainment of 21st century computer technology knowledge and skills to meet state academic achievement standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Demonstrate command of computer science content being taught. • Assist all students to meet or exceed 21st century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards. • Articulate what students should know and be able to do, while working to help students achieve course objectives. • Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required. • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences. • Prepare lesson plans that engage, stimulate and instruct students. • Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects accommodation for individual needs of students assigned. • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEP) and/or accommodation plans. • Remain flexible, innovative and adaptive to change. • Continue learning newest trends and update to the computer science field. • Develop and prioritize short and long-term instructional objectives based on curriculum. • Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities. • Utilize scientifically researched effective instructional strategies and methods of providing information for students to acquire the learning. • Provide formative and summative assessment that measures student progress toward and achievement of objectives. • Organize a learning environment to maximize student time on task. • Maintain behavior that is conducive to learning. • Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities. • Maintain professional responsibilities and act as a role model. • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Educational Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science, information technology, or other related field from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university required. • Master’s degree in related field or relevant career experience preferred. • Previous teaching and/or relevant industry experience preferred. Skills and Knowledge Qualifications: • Ability to provide high quality instruction around the knowledge and skills of computer science courses, including the development and use of computational thinking skills using, writing, analyzing, and applying different algorithms. • Knowledge and practice of programming basics (control structures, standard operators, variables, correctness, modifiability), understands and applies event-driven programs, use of libraries, and object-oriented concepts. • Knowledge and practice of data digitization, data encryption and decryption, data simulation, modeling and manipulation of data. • Knowledge of operating systems, computing systems, communication between devices, cloud computing, networks. • Knowledge of the impact of, obstacles to, and effects of computing application of computer science concepts to solve real-world problems in a professional setting. • Integrating curriculum, state standards, and effective instructional practices. • Ability to understand the teaching/learning process. • Ability to infuse technology into instruction to increase student learning. • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, and school based staff, students, Parents, and community. • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and effective human relations skills. • Strong understanding and knowledge of mathematics.
