St John Paull II Parish in Harrisburg SD is seeking a lifelong Catholic Missionary Disciple to serve in the full time role of Director of Music Ministry / Liturgist. The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree and related experience on liturgical and related subjects and will be an active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.

The Liturgist is responsible for facilitating the worship life of the parish community by coordinating and providing quality liturgical experiences which celebrate and strengthen the membership’s journey of faith. This is a salaried, 40 hours a week, professional position, paid holidays and other benefits per Parish policy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct the parish worship program, including the planning of liturgical seasons, sacramental celebrations and the liturgical calendar.
• Oversees the aesthetic décor and cleanliness of the worship space, the provision of sacred vessels and vestments, the maintenance of an effective sound system, the purchase of missals, homily helps and other resources.
• Coordinates with the pastor to prepare and manage the worship budget.
• Educates members of the parish and serves as parish resource in matters of liturgical understanding, sensitivity and planning.
• To provide on-going education for musicians. They will assist in planning liturgies and environment.
• To be Choir Director for the Adult Choir and Youth Choirs; be responsible for rehearsals and the weekend Masses as scheduled, and recruit new members and plan music.
• To be the Kids of the Kingdom Choir Director; be responsible for planning music, directing rehearsals, recruiting new members. They will sing once a month from October – April.
• To help coordinate music for funerals.
• To assist in the First Reconciliation & First Communion Fairs.
• To provide on-going training and support for parish cantors, groups and accompanists. Meet with them seasonally to prepare special music for particular seasons and feasts.
• Assist in planning special Liturgies, Holy Week, etc.
• To meet with all engaged couples to help them plan their wedding liturgies and music, and help them to select parish musicians.
• To schedule all parish musicians for all parish liturgies.
• Oversee on-going maintenance of instruments - organ, pianos, etc. and have a working knowledge of our sound system.
