The Patient Accounts Specialist is responsible for patient account follow-up with all insurance payers and management of denials. Responsible for ensuring work queues are managed and maintained based on management's established productivity standards. Documents and completes all appeal letters to payers within timely filing guidelines, ensuring appropriate documentation is attached. Keeps abreast of payer-specific regulations/policies. Manages patients' accounts by contacting payers to determine claim and payment status.
* $22 - $25/hour based on experience
* Must be based in the tri-state area
* Hybrid role with 1 day/week in the office
Requirements
· Review work queues on a daily basis to ensure productivity standards on patient account follow-up are maintained.
· Keeps abreast of current insurance and specific payer information.
· Completes appeal letters within timely filing guidelines and processes appeal with the necessary documentation to payers using required tools and websites; updates account status in the billing system
· Assists in identifying denial trends, underpayments, and overpayments; escalates as necessary.
· Assists in preparing documentation as needed by Management regarding Patient Accounting functions, issues, identified trends, etc.
· Assists in providing resolution to unpaid, unresolved accounts with payers.
· Prepares accounts with open balances that need to be sent to collections.
· Behaves in a manner consistent with Professional’s mission, vision, and values.
· Maintains a working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, Risk Management, and compliance regulations.
· Attends Company meetings as required.
· Attends training classes as directed and completes assigned training courses.
· Practices confidentiality in accordance with Company policies and all laws and regulations.
· Other duties as assigned by the RCO Management.
· Stays abreast of laws and regulations affecting reimbursement.
