Catholic Hospice, Inc. is Hiring an EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, HOSPICE Near Miami, FL

Description

Summary & Objective

The Executive Director of Hospice is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the hospice organization. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Executive Director will oversee clinical, operational, and financial aspects, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Planning, directing and evaluating operations to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate care and services.
  • Fiscal planning, budgeting and management of operations in accordance with fiscal parameters.
  • Ensures that the corporation has financial controls and uses generally accepted accounting practices in accordance with sound financial management.
  • Develops and submits an annual budget which shows expected revenue and expenditures and assures the allocation of resources to meet regulatory requirements and provide quality services at a reasonable cost.
  • Provides appropriate response and resolution to patient or family complaints.
  • Engages management and staff in the development of policies and procedures to establish and maintain a patient care environment that promotes quality patient care and patient safety.
  • Develops and maintains written personnel policies and procedures that adequately support patient care; ensure that accurate and complete patient records are maintained.
  • Plans future programs and develops appropriate business plans in support of program initiatives.
  • Oversees the preparation of the Annual Report on operations, including a report on Community Benefits.
  • Provides leadership in long range planning for hospice issues relating to program development, legislation, certification and reimbursement.
  • Negotiates and enters professional and service contracts as considered appropriate for the operation of the corporation.
  • Ensures that plans are developed and implemented that will promote hospice as a needed service to the community and ensure the viability of the corporation.
  • Ensures that plans are developed and implemented for fund raising activities needed to obtain the necessary gifts and grants to achieve the goals approved by the Board.

Other Duties

  • Recruits, hires and discharges all management personnel within the corporation. Ensures that a process for the selection, employment, evaluation, retention and discharge of all employees exists for the corporation and is compliant with all relevant State and Federal laws and is implemented in a consistent manner.
  • Implements cost containment measures in respect to staffing, durable medical equipment, and medical supplies.
  • Promotes the advancement of Hospice knowledge by participating on the appropriate committees of the State and National Organizations.
  • Informing the governing body, staff, and professional advisory group of current organizational, community, and industry trends
  • Establishing and maintaining effective channels of communication
  • Meets regularly with the Executive Team and Joint Management to promote coordination, communication and collaboration in support of the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Responsible for on-call emergencies, including weekends and holidays. 
  • Promotes positive employee engagement, teamwork, mutual respect and safety work practices. 
  • Maintain required mandatory skill updates.
  • Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • This role oversees Palliative Care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of health care administration, business administration, public health, or any related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of relevant senior-level Hospice leadership experience.
  • Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software. 
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language. 

 Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250 pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.
