The purpose of this job is for the Registered Nurse (RN) to support the physicians and/or mid-level providers in the practice with clinical activities and provide direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice. The responsibilities will include: observation, data collection, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual needs as guided by an individualized and ongoing plan of care. The RN will work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team. The RN may also assist in appointment scheduling and other related activities for optimal patient service. RN's by nature of licensure have an oversight responsibility to other clinical staff (LPN's and medical assistants).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to complex and quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs.
  • Plans for care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involves patients and families in establishing care goals.
  • Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families and for the services delivered. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current on CMC policies, procedures and standards. Acts as a resource to peers.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, and shows on going follow through in care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrates proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation.
  • Is self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system within scheduled shift.
  • Assists peers and team members in acquiring department specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Floats to other hospital units of competency or with JIT.
  • Assists others and provides leadership in implementing the standards of the patient care.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Current NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Graduation from an accredited RN program
  • BLS Certification upon hire.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of the practice management system, EMR and scheduling protocols

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing-- 70%, Sitting-- 30%, Reaching-80%, Bending-- 50%, Lifting-- must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard)
  • Must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
  • Must be able to assist patients to transfer and ambulate, sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary

  • Onsite

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • $35.63 to $44.18 per hour
