What we are looking for…

We are looking for a full charge bookkeeper or accounting professional who has:

· Excellent communication skills in all directions within an organization

· Understanding of both cash and accrual basis accounting for sales, inventory, prepaid assets, expense accruals and more

· Experience with sales & use tax returns, property tax returns, payroll, etc

· Great Excel skills

· Detail oriented and a master at detailed reconciliations of all kinds

· Self-starter with good self-awareness and knowledge of their own limitations (and when to ask for help)

· Technologically oriented and is skilled in QBO, QBDT, and other accounting and 3^rd party apps

· Intrinsically curious and a continual self-motivated learner

· Skilled at managing other people’s expectations

What you will be doing…

We are looking for this person to improve small business owners’ lives and livelihoods by providing solid accounting and a better understanding of their accounting and cash flows. To do this we would expect you to work with clients in order to provide:

· Full outsourced bookkeeping for smaller clients

· Small business bookkeeping advisory

· Bookkeeping/accounting assistance for small to midsized clients

· Seasonal year end cleanup for tax clients

· Occasional management consulting projects

· Filling client accounting roles as an interim accountant

· Small business budgeting assistance

· Hands-on support with a variety of accounting systems (mostly QuickBooks but also others) and 3^rd party applications, occasionally learning new systems and software

· Other duties as assigned

Who you will be working with…

You will primarily report to our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) Senior Manager. Most work will be performed under the guidance and direction of the client service Directors and Managers who manage the various client relationships and the specific projects.

What types of clients will you be working with? Our clients include…

· A variety of industries ranging from small business contractors and professional service providers, to construction firms, distribution suppliers, technology companies and life science companies.

· Revenues from a few million with very fast growth, up to $50 million in revenue.

· Ownership ranging from founder owned, family owned as well as some VC backed.

· Located largely in upper SoCal (Kern County, Ventura County and northern LA) but some in lower So Cal and across the Western US.

· By billable hours, client retention, client service expansion (where appropriate) and adherence to CBIZ core values

Things that are a plus but not required…

· Associate’s degree in accounting, bookkeeping certification, bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, other accounting related certifications/credentials

· Software certifications such as QuickBooks Desktop and QBO Pro Advisor as well as various other software certifications

· Previous experience in an outsourced accounting firm

What you should know…

· This is an hourly position with expected hours to be typically 40 - 45 hours per week.

· The hourly pay rate range for this role is between $24/hr - $38/hr depending on qualifications, location, and other factors.

· This is a hybrid role in our Bakersfield office with a focus on supporting our Ventura County and North LA County clients. Travel, if and as needed, will mostly be in SoCal relative to our many SoCal offices and the clients of those offices.
