Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Spanish interpreter to provide interpretation services for at-risk youth. In this role, you will facilitate communication between minors and support staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong language proficiency, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work with individuals at risk from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services for at-risk youth during interviews, meetings, appointments, and other interactions.

• Interpret spoken communication between Spanish-speaking minors and support staff, ensuring clarity and understanding.

• Maintain confidentiality and neutrality while interpreting sensitive information.

• Collaborate with support staff to ensure effective communication and support for minors.

• Act as a cultural liaison, helping to bridge the gap between minors and support staff.

• Remain up-to-date on relevant terminology, procedures, and regulations related to immigration, child welfare, and legal proceedings.

• Provide support and advocacy for minors as they navigate unfamiliar systems and processes.

Requirements

• Fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

• Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably in a social service, legal, or healthcare setting.

• Understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by at-risk youth and cultural competency in working with diverse populations.

• Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, and empathy in emotionally charged situations.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and protocols governing the care and protection of at-risk youth is a plus but not a requirement.
