This position, Senior Service Fellow (Health Scientist), RG-601 , serves as Chief Practice Officer, Office of Director, located in CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice (DEHSP), Atlanta, GA. The position advises the Director on public health issues, establishes robust alliances with key stakeholders, and leads the development and implementation of environmental health strategies for universal adoption in public health programs.

Basic Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree (e.g. PhD or MD) and at least 1 year of post-doctorate experience in epidemiology, environmental health, medicine, or related health sciences. In addition, the desired candidate will have documented leadership experience in creating a vision and setting the direction in a scientific or public health organization; knowledge and expertise in the field of public health practices, policies, and strategies, including environmental health; demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating complex public health programs and initiatives, and building robust alliances with diverse stakeholders; strong background in bridging the gap between scientific research and practical public health applications, with a focus on implementation science; and the ability to formulate goals, develop strategies, and assess the effectiveness of public health programs, with a track record of driving innovation and evidence-based decision-making.

Note : Non-US citizens meeting the above degree and specified specialized experience requirements are eligible for noncompetitive appointments under this appointing authority. Citizens of countries on the Non-Aligned list (including China, India, and Switzerland) are eligible for this appointment. Citizens of countries that have been determined by the U.S. Secretary of State as State Sponsors of Terrorism will not be able to obtain a security clearance to work at CDC and should not be considered for this appointing authority. Countries currently on this list include Cuba, North Korea, Iran, and Syria.
