Arcadis is seeking a qualified individual for a GIS Programming / Scripting Specialist candidate to provide analytical and coding support for web service development, mobile applications, python scripting, and GIS application development for local and state Departments of Transportation.

Role description :

Projects focus on data management, visualization, reporting, analysis, and maintenance of enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using Esri based software.

This position is a remote position and can be located anywhere within the United States. Being a remote position, a highspeed internet connection is required as well as a safe and dedicated workspace.

Opportunities exist for local office interactions and occasional travel (if desired).

Role accountabilities :

  • Programming and developing applications using Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code.
  • Creation of scripts to integrate, transform, convert, and validate enterprise data stores.
  • Creation of web services to interrogate and distribute enterprise data.
  • Leveraging code repositories (like Git Hub) and push / pull activities using DevOps.
  • Development of databases and schemas in Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Creation of FME / KNIME workflows and processes to integrate, transform, convert, and validate enterprise data stores.
  • Analyzing and creating datasets to support enterprise reporting and distribution needs.
  • Integrating datasets for use in producing enterprise reporting and distribution needs.
  • Identifying and designing data business processes and use cases.
  • Validation, troubleshooting, and error resolution of applications, data transformations, and processes.
  • Working with GIS datasets using Esri technologies.
  • A valid drivers license and clean driving record is required for this position

Qualifications & Experience :

Required Qualifications :

  • Education required : Bachelors in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science
  • 4 years' post-graduate experience in technology / visualization software, or relevant experience / qualifying certification

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Exposure to programing languages (Java, C# / C , .Net, etc.)
  • Exposure to scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, JSON, SQL, XML, etc.)
  • Exposure to frontend languages (HTML5, CSS, etc.)
  • Exposure to Cloud Services (Azure, AWS, etc,)
  • Safe Software FME Desktop, FME Server, FME Cloud or KNIME
  • Esri ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro products (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox)
  • Linear referencing toolsets
  • Extensive familiarity with enterprise database environments, including versioning concepts (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Demonstrating progressive and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for complex reports and presentations.
