Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has overall responsibility of strategic planning, management and running of all the finance and accounting activities of the Company. This includes accounting, reporting, revenue cycle management, financial audits, taxation, treasury, purchasing, sales operations, business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management and governance as well as strategic initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic recommendations to the CEO and members of senior management
- Provides leadership, direction and management of the accounting team
- Conducts regular operational audits of financial and accounting activities and address any areas of concern
- Manages the financial forecasting and budgeting processes, and oversees the preparation of all financial reporting
- Advises on long-term business and financial planning, strategic initiatives and investment decisions including developing zero based department ownership of budget and costs.
- Oversees the capital management process including debt, equity and other capital raising activities
- Leads and proactively manages revenue cycle management, the ongoing reimbursement updates cash flow, bad debt/write offs, ensuring liquidity and optimization of working capital.
- Manages Billing Vendor relationships and holds them to performance standards.
- Manages banking relationships
- Provides commercial insight and leadership across the business in order to exceed business plan targets
- Assesses financial risks and develops strategies to mitigate them
- Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and guidelines, such as tax laws and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Oversees audit activities and processes
- Establishes and develops relationships with and interacts with senior management, external partners, and stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily workflow of the Accounting, Sales Operations and Revenue Cycle Departments
- Interviews, hires, and trains new staff
- Manages and develops the accounting team, including performance management, goal setting and coaching.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of revenue cycle management specific to laboratory services for all bill types (Government, Commercial, and Patient)
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and communication skills with the executive presence to work with senior management, investors and external stakeholders
- Ability to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgement
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Accounting software (Advanced Excel, SQL, Planning Maestro, Concur, Salesforce, QuickBooks)
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics; MBA or CPA preferred
- At least 10 years of experience in the finance industry with proven leadership and management experience is essential
- Experience in capital raising, private equity and investment banking preferred
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- This is a full-time position, based in the Suffern, NY office.
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment
- Prolonged periods of sedentary work that requires sitting at a desk and working on a computer
