Position Summary The Detailer participates, as directed by the supervisor, in any modeling efforts for 3D coordination and shop drawings for educational, institutional, commercial projects. The ideal Detailer should be self-driven, resourceful and detail oriented to manage a high level of quality and service. Organizational skills, flexibility and critical thinking are necessary traits. Coordinates drawings with other trades and works closely with assigned Project Managers, construction supervision, field personnel, vendors and design engineers. Reports to a Senior Lead BIM Coordinator. Work is usually reviewed for accuracy by the Lead BIM Coordinator, Senior Lead BIM Coordinator, construction supervisor and/or the BIM Coordination Manger. Performs other duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Generates construction and fabrication drawings using CADD equipment and peripherals for a variety of large complex commercial and industrial projects.
- Reviews construction drawings for apparent conflicts with architectural and structural contract documents and to ensure compliance with local code requirements.
- Works closely with project management team for resolution of issues identified during reviews through the Request For Information (RFI) process.
- Coordinates draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure routings and clearances are understood and no obstructions exist.
- Working with other trades and coordinating each trades layout specification.
- Attending coordination meetings at jobsite and/or offices
- Partnering with project Superintendents and Project manager to complete tasks as assigned and needed.
- Performs site surveys and field measurement work as needed to support the conceptual and design drawing effort.
- Reviews submittal documents for accuracy.
- Maintains logs as needed for RFIs, transmittals, and drawings.
- Identifies and resolves issues with clients, architects, engineers, building owners and vendors related to construction drawings and drawings of record.
- Development of Bill of Quantities (BOQs)
- Development of Routing Schedules
- Working knowledge of BIM field tools. i.e. BIM 360 on tablets
Other Duties and Responsibilities - Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.
Education and Experience - High school diploma required.
- One year Revit and Auto CAD, and Navisworks
- Should have a minimum of three (3) years trade experience in field installation with a solid skill level
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities - Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam.
- Strong Computer skills and aptitude for learning
- Intermediate mathematical skills
- Detail oriented, able to recognize errors quickly
- Good organizational skills, multi-tasker
- Communicate with Superintendent, venders and customers effectively.
- Working knowledge of electrical parts and their intended use.
- Working knowledge of general construction.
- Working knowledge of safety procedures and firm believer in safety
- General problem solving ability.
