Position Summary

A Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the management of deliveries to and from job sites, data entry of the tool inventory system. Is able to manage the warehouse team in daily tasks. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of condition and location of all small tools and warehouse inventory through tool tracking software.
  • Provide tool inventory and update inventory daily.
  • Ensure all tools are in inventory and labeled and inspected before they leave the warehouse.
  • Make recommendations on which tools to order and restock.
  • Identify and coordinate tool repairs and replacements in compliance with warranty and partnership agreements with Manager.
  • Produce dead stock/tool warranty reports.
  • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations
  • Coach and motivate warehouse team.
  • Maintain standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.
  • Manage warehouse team, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment.
  • Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leads.
  • Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees, perform all warehouse employee appraisals in a timely manner.
  • Manage the staging of job materials for the installation crews.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Help set up company events
  • Inspects delivery vehicles and notifies Warehouse Manager when maintenance and/or repairs are needed.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Education and Experience

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer to have at least two (2) years of warehouse supervisor experience
  • Experience in construction or a related field.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Must have electrical knowledge of tools and commercial and residential materials.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background check
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals and motivate employees
  • Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Great interpersonal skills – build trust with others Implement process improvement initiatives
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, worksite directions, and written instructions.
  • Analyze tool and material request for preparation of delivery schedule.
  • Computer literate
  • Good Supervisor skills, including strong decision-making, problem solving and strategic planning abilities
  • Excellent customer service with venders
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • In-depth understanding of industry and company best practices for the warehouse
  • Familiarity with inventory control practices and logistics
  • Comfortable using inventory management software and other organizational computer applications
  • Physical strength, stamina, and the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
  • Must think and plan, preparing for how delays in transportation, supply shortages and staffing issues can impact the supply chain ultimately affecting our ability to meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Be an excellent judge of character and skills, in order to delegate tasks as efficiently and effectively as possible based on the strengths and weaknesses of your team
  • Able to work in different weather conditions.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Develops relationships with leaders, direct reports, and/or others that facilitate open dialogue and trust.
  • Become familiar with the DFW area for scheduling deliveries.

May work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.

  1. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  2. Lift 51 pounds, routinely. Constantly move about on the feet.
  3. Climb ladders of all types.
  4. Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
  5. Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  6. Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  7. Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  8. Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
  9. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
  10. Must be able to wear boots while working at the warehouse and job site.
  11. Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. This position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, this position is often required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
  12. Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
