General Purpose and Function:
The Math Teacher teaches grades 5 through 8 and is a collaborative member of the Math Cohort Team (Grades 1-8). The successful candidate will cultivate an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that reaches every student based on their individual learning style and strengths. Using multiple teaching techniques, the Math Teacher engages students to progress in their proficiency of speaking/communicating, listening, reading, and writing, problem solving and math facts. The teacher creates a dynamic Math classroom that promotes critical thinking and learning skills and respects diverse perspectives.
Other responsibilities include being in the Middle School Advisory program, leading an activity period, and participating on committees. Coaching and additional duties may also be expected.
This is a full-time, exempt position. During the school year, the Math Teacher will be expected to be on campus from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, presence and participation are expected during weekly faculty meetings on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Presence and participation is required before and after the school year for opening and closing weeks.
