Cedar Park Group Inc. is Hiring a WasteWater Treatment Plant Operator Near Wellsville, NY
Job: Monitor the water supply system (Wells), wastewater treatment, and sludge processing for our mill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for observing variations in operating conditions, interpreting meter and gauge readings, and making adjustments to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal performance.
Essential Functions
- Operate and monitor all equipment in the Waste Water Treatment area, reporting any issues as needed.
- Treat all wastewater streams from various process areas in the mill to remove primary and secondary solids and biological oxidation of organic material to meet regulatory discharged permit limits.
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise and respond to emergency situations.
- Keep the work area clean and maintain safe work practices.
- Fill out log sheets, record gauge readings, and collect wastewater samples.
- Monitor the unloading of bulk chemicals and collaborate with the EHS Manager for activities concerning environmental certifications.
- Perform lockouts for the preparation of maintenance work in the Waste Treatment area and log all repairs.
- Promote a safety-bound corporate culture and uphold environmental and safety guidelines.
- Perform a walk-down of the Waste Water Treatment Area at least twice per shift, identifying any abnormalities.
- Assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
- Must possess a Certified Class 1 Wastewater Operator License.
- Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, and resolve problems.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Prior experience required along with a Certified Class 1 Wastewater Operator License.
- Fluent in English with the ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Certified Class 1 Operator.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in plant and warehouse areas. Exposure to varying temperatures and paper dust.
