CELLA is Hiring a Proposal Writer Near Reston, VA
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in writing federal, state, and local proposals for clients such as DHS, FBI, DARPA, NASA, FAA, HHS, CDC, and others. This role requires the ability to create content from scratch based on interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) and research, as well as the skill to tailor and rewrite boilerplate materials. Candidates must be able to substantiate their experience by providing detailed information on proposals supported, including their role and contributions relevant to our client's needs.
Responsibilities:
- Write clear, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections, translating technical and other complex ideas into easily understandable text; rewrite and review proposal sections and related documents for complex Federal Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Collaborate with the proposal team to develop sections that clearly articulate the overall solution and strategy, including win themes and discriminators.
- Conduct research to be included in proposal documentation, including interviews, meetings, and gathering source information.
- Synthesize text and ideas from multiple authors, including SMEs and consultants, to create cohesive content; edit for consistency, clarity, grammar, and compliance with client requirements.
- Identify, resolve, and escalate gaps and risks to proposal management and operations leadership.
- Lead the writing of technical, management, and past performance proposal sections that are organized, succinct, persuasive, compliant, and meet internal and external deadlines.
- Support the proposal development lifecycle and actively participate in all related activities.
- Thoroughly review all proposal response volumes and sections (technical, management, past performance, resumes, etc.) for compliance, grammar, spelling, and tone of voice.
- Experience level: Experienced
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in proposal writing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and proactive communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Strong written English language skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with expertise in Word, including styles and embedded objects.
- Exceptional formatting, writing, and editing skills.
- Ability to quickly compile and present information from diverse sources in high-pressure situations.
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Professional.
- Must understand the Shipley Methodology and/or APMP Best Practices for Proposal Development.
