Description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.

Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):

• Ensure adherence to the accounting department quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
• Participate and support accounting close cycles.
• Prepare financial reports and analytics as needed.
• Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
• Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
• Prepare journal entries.
• Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
• Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
• Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
• Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
• Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
• Review all payables for accuracy in posting dates and coding.
• Manage fixed assets including capitalization and depreciation.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Distribute monthly financial reports to various departments.
• Review and finalize monthly analysis schedules for accuracy.
• Communicate and train outside departments on financial reports including answering questions on monthly results.
• Reconcile and analyze balance sheets.
• Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff.
• Analyze financial activities of departments and manufacturing plants to provide input into budget planning and preparation processes.
• Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Prepare or manage preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Education

• High School/GED
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related discipline (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
• Minimum of four years of job-related experience

Other Information

• Flexibility in working hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as required.
• Conduct audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.

• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
• Maintain a working knowledge and be in compliance with corporate standards for business conduct and federal antitrust laws.
