GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) Assistant II prepares files for processing and closing, answers the phone, order appraisals, title work, and credit supplements. This position prepares marketing material, thank you notes and gifts for closing. The MLO Assistant II facilitates the application process for prequalified applicants, pulls credit reports, gathers approval conditions and resubmits to processing and closing.

This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Answer phone calls, manage the calendar and appointments, including scheduling closing appointments for the Mortgage Loan Originator. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

2. Prepare files for processing and closing, submission and resubmission. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

3. Order appraisals, title work, and credit supplements. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

4. Prepare withdrawals & denials. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

5. Distribute marketing material, thank you notes and gifts for closing. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.

6. Order TRV's, SSN verification. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

7. Maintain closed loan files. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.

8. Obtain conditions/documents from clients (or other sources) for loan processing/approval. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

9. Manage referrals from branch office and provide appropriate follow-up. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

10. Analyze financial data to determine creditworthiness. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

11. Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures and underwriting guidelines. This duty is performed weekly, about 20% of the time.

12. Accept borrower applications. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time.

13. Utilize communication and access of daily rates, credit reports and AUS responses and transmitting to processor. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time.

14. Maintain high levels of customer service while managing each applicant's and support staff's expectations. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time.

15. Attend and participate in all lending meetings as required. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

16. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

17. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned.

18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
