Contract Description CENTER FOR FAMILY LIFE , a nationally-recognized social service program in Sunset Park Brooklyn, is seeking enthusiastic individuals to serve as AmeriCorpsmembers to support youth engagement programs and promote student leadership development and career readiness. Our ideal candidate has the knowledge and a demonstrated interest in working with youth and will utilize a strengths-based approach to enrich the lives of youth, families, and the community. JOBTITLE: Group Leader/AmeriCorps @ PS 94 Exemption: Non-Exempt PURPOSEOFTHEPOSITION: To supervise a group of middle school and high school participants in a community-based after-school setting and summer day program as an AmeriCorps member. I.SPECIFICRESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to
Supervise students in a variety of activities including art-based recreation, after-school clubs, and homework assistance, in person in a socially-distanced model
Co-facilitate afterschool clubs with CFL staff members; attend training relating to social group work and team meetings
Assist in the design and implementation of special events for high school students, families, and the community
Partner with school staff to co-facilitate group workshops and assist in the group's development of a service-oriented project, utilizing a project-based learning practice model
Perform office duties as necessary
Some Saturdays and evenings required
II.QUALIFICATIONS
Some college experience preferred
Experience working with youth on leadership development, service-learning, and/or college exploration
Must enjoy working with high school students, working in groups, collaborating with others, and being part of a community
Bilingual in English-Spanish or English-Chinese, a plus
NY State Drivers' License, a plus
Detail-oriented, flexible, and a team player

May be required to be active by walking, bending, standing, squatting, or sitting
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high energy level
May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be required to work in various temperatures in order to facilitate activities in various locations inside and outside of the school building
V.SCOPEOFRESPONSIBILITY: The Group Leader role as an AmeriCorps member focuses on supervising a group of participants in the program, in collaboration with other professionals including Activity Specialists and Youth Workers. The member will contribute to the program's goal of promoting positive youth development and increasing school engagement by building consistent relationships with youth participants, volunteers, and school and community partners.
