Center for Human Development is Hiring a Peer Support Specialist (CRM)/ CADC I Near La Grande, OR

Center for Human Development Inc. is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist/Certified Recovery Mentor/CADC I. The person hired for this position will have both a SUD recovery history and a shared history of mental health treatment.

Peer Support Specialist duties:

This person will share their life pertinent experiences in their work with Center for Human Development (CHD) clients. This employee will understand and respect each client's point of view, experiences and preferences, and work with other CHD staff to maximize client choice, self-determination and decision making in the planning and delivery of treatment. They will provide peer counseling and consultation to individuals, families and other staff as needed.

Certified Recovery Mentor duties:

The person will work with individuals engaged in substance use. The position works with therapists and treatment team, to promote recovery and help achieve identified goals of recovery.

Position requires ability to understand and implement instructional methods while demonstrating flexibility, creativity and autonomy as well as familiarity with community resources. Must have completed or be willing to complete trainings specific to the position within a reasonable time from the date of hire.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Graduate (equivalent considered).
  • Must have a CADC I within two years of employment.
  • Must have a history of mental health and substance use treatment and have received therapy services at some point in history.
  • Must meet recovery mentor requirement of two years abstinent from use.
  • Must pass criminal history background check and drug screening.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon Driver's license and be insurable for client service purposes, travel between business offices, and to attend required meeting and/or trainings.
