Program for Assertive Community Treatment

Position Overview: A professional who is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for planning and coordinating care and services to meet individual needs of clients with severe and persistent mental illness under the clinical supervision of the team leader and the psychiatrist. This employee establishes, administers, and directs the chemical dependency component of the PACT program.

Job Duties:

  1. Conducts chemical dependency assessments including substance abuse history, course of illness, response to treatment and present assessment results at daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings.
  2. Develops a trusting relationship with clients so that they may more freely discuss substance use and its effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning.
  3. Provides multiple-stage individual and group treatment in the office and in community settings.
  4. Provides on-call crisis intervention covering regular hours and serves as a backup to evening and weekend staff.
  5. Participates in setting treatment goals and plans with clients to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn replacement behaviors. Coordinate with external services for detoxification and establish linkage to outpatient treatment, self-help programs (e.g., Alcoholics anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous), and residential facilities.
  6. Provides ongoing assessment, problem-solving, skill training, supervision (e.g., prompts, assignments, monitoring, encouragement), and environmental adaptations to assist clients in maintaining sobriety.
  7. Participates in the provision of supportive and rehabilitation services in clinical, vocational, and daily living activities (attached).
  8. Documents client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures.
  9. Provides case management services for clients, including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team (ITT); assumes responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the ITT; provides individual supportive therapy and symptom management; ensures immediate changes are made in the treatment plans as clients’ needs change; educates client and clients’ supports; and advocates for client rights and preferences.
  10. May provide training on the navigating behavioral health challenges to agencies where clients are likely to receive services.
  11. Completes and appropriately maintains all required paperwork in accordance with MRWH policy. 
  12. Performs medication delivery, works rotating evenings and weekends, and must pass medication test.
  13. Maintains LAC license in the State of Montana. 
  14. May need to transport clients in private vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a baccalaureate or associate degree in alcohol and drug studies, psychology, counseling, or a related field from an accredited university, or an equivalent combination of study and experience; 2000 hours of supervised work experience in chemical dependency counseling, and certification as previously described. License is required. 

ACLC salary starts at $41,620 DOE

LAC salary starts at $54,828 DOE
