The Center for People is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides innovative services and programs to the low-income community in Lincoln, Nebraska, addressing basic needs and providing opportunities to achieve economic independence for our clients.
The Center has been fighting poverty in Lincoln, Nebraska since 2003. We are the Food Bank of Lincoln's largest partner, distributing food to more than 5,400 low-income families. We are also home to Lincoln's first Diaper Bank, established to meet the growing need for diapers in our community. Education is the key to helping low-income individuals obtain economic independence. As such, the Center developed educational and training programs to help people obtain employment with a living wage.
We are currently looking for an Administrative & Education Specialist. This position is a full-time, 40 hour per week, onsite position.
The Administrative & Education Specialist’s primary role is overseeing the effective
utilization of the computer lab and to provide instructional support to multiple
learning platforms. In this job, expectation is to support participants enrolled in
Center for People’s educational programs and those seeking career opportunities.
Complimentary functions include providing technical direction, supervising lab
activities, managing online education platforms, and supporting learners with all
other technology requests offered through the Center for People. Outside of
computer lab hours, this role will also be responsible for assisting with administrative
duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
During Computer Lab Hours:
● Supervise and document activities within the computer and virtual reality labs, ensuring a smooth flow for learners and job seekers
● Maintain situational awareness of program environments and the location of assigned learners at all times
● Utilize de-escalation techniques when needed and redirect learners from behaviors that deviate from Center for People standards
● Communicate with learners to understand their computer-related interests, educational needs, technical proficiency levels, and employment interests
● Provide learners with assistance, aiding in software usage, troubleshooting, and leveraging technology for educational purposes platforms for educational and career advancement
● Act as the primary point of contact for learners encountering technical difficulties, offering immediate assistance or coordinating support
● Ensure a well-organized, clean, welcoming, and professional atmosphere is kept facilitating effective learning and skill-building activities
● Ability to manage time effectively and discipline to work autonomously
● Operate in accordance with all contracts, government regulations, and Center for People policies and procedures
● Exhibit high integrity and ability to set and maintain ethical professional boundaries with program learners
● Other duties as assigned
