Description
Founded in 1993, CUCS is an acclaimed human services provider who helps people rise from poverty, exit homelessness and be healthy. CUCS implements its mission by acquiring and developing supportive housing facilities and purpose-built shelters and providing community-based mental health and social services throughout New York City.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resources (HR) Director to join our senior staff. The HR Director will report to the COO.
What you will do:
Organizational Leadership and Execution:
  • Oversee all aspects of CUCS' HR function and department to align HR strategies with CUCS' overall objectives.
  • Understand organizational structure and functions, change management and practices to support the delivery of CUCS' services and cultivate a positive company culture.
  • Manage HR Information Systems (HRIS) and related HR technology, and leverage data analytics to make informed decisions about talent management, employee engagement, benefits, and other HR functions.
  • Concerning Change Management, lead the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes, or technologies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all HR policies throughout the organization.
Talent Acquisition:
  • Concerning Workforce Planning, analyze, and forecast staffing supply and demand, to ensure that CUCS has sufficient number of qualified staff and leaders.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of recruitment strategies, onboarding, and other HR processes to attract and retain talent.
Performance Management & Leadership Development:
  • Develop and oversee strategies, including the current performance management program, to optimize employee performance and help CUCS achieve its' objectives.
  • Assess, design, and oversee training needs, training methods, learning management systems, and creation of employee development programs.
Employee Benefits Management:
  • Oversee all benefit plans and services, including but not limited to the negotiation of health insurance and retirement plans, the management of CUCS' Leave and Absence (LOA) management function, the development and continuity of all benefits plan documents, the preparation of all mandated employment benefit reports with CUCS Fiscal Department and benefits plan carriers.
Employee Engagement:
  • Leads HR communication, events, and other activities, and uses surveys and other tools to promote a positive work environment and employee morale.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the other CUCS leaders and departments to manage employee conflicts and disputes.
General HR Administration:
  • Establish and maintain confidential employee files for all employees.
  • Review and oversee the processing of invoices from insurance and benefit carriers.
  • Oversee the preparation of records and reports in Worker's Compensation and LOA cases.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development or Psychology, Labor Relations, Public Administration, or Similar Degree), and 5 years of experience in HR, 3 of which the candidate has served as a director, deputy, or assistance director of HR; or
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development or Psychology, Labor Relations, Public Administration, or Similar Degree), and 7 years of experience in HR, 3 of which the candidate has served as a director or deputy director of HR; and
  • In-depth knowledge of HR, including but not limited to employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Outstanding project management skills, including a high capacity for multi-tasking and the ability and willingness to take full ownership of projects.
  • Deep understanding of labor regulations, employment laws and requirements to help ensure that CUCS' HR practices comply with the applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Proficiency of the most commonly used Human Resources Information Systems (e.g., Pay.com, Paylocity, UKG, Workday, etc.).
  • Excellent written, analytical, quantitative, organization and communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and critical thinking skills, with a record of successfully managing complex problems and initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities, and diligence.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficient with MS 365, including strong Excel skills, Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.
Preferred Skills & Experiences:
  • Previous experience with human services organizations.
