The Center for Women and Families – Family Violence Advocate

The Family Violence Advocatewill help to move toward our vision of thriving survivors in safe communities!


The Center for Women and Families
provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.

The Family Violence Advocate is responsible for providing evidence-based group interventions to survivors of domestic violence and their children or families as part of a DHHS grant (Department of Health and Human Services). The Advocate will provide training and technical assistance to partnering agencies related to screening and identifying survivors of domestic violence.


This is a 2nd
shift position, Sunday through Thursday, 3pm-11:30pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, counseling, de-escalations, transportation, advocacy, information, referrals and supportive services to clients.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and facilitation of training and workshops.
  • Serve as an expert resource on Intimate Partner Violence to participating partners.
  • Document prompt and timely interactions with clients and other relevant activities to support continuous improvement and examine program goals and outcomes.
  • Engage as an active contributor to the Family Violence Team and Centerwide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 3 years experience in a related field.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements.
  • Fluency in languages other than English are a plus.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Developed sense of empathy.
  • Self-starter
