Job SummaryCenterPoint Energy is looking for a Director of Agile Operations to join our Information Technology Team, located in Houston, Texas.
You will have the ability to be responsible for CenterPoint Energy’s Agile Operations. The role is to ultimately oversee, direct, and manage all activities related to the Lean Agile Center of Excellence, organizational change enablement and communications, platform talent management, knowledge management, and platform governance. Responsible and accountable for establishing standards and practices that enable agile ways of working, driving consistent change adoption methodologies, supporting the enablement of agile talent strategies, instituting frameworks and processes to make knowledge available across the IT organization, and enabling effective platform governance. This position will report to the Vice President, Office of the CIO.Essential FunctionsTo be successful in this role you will:
  • Drive strategy to enable key roles in the organization to be self-sufficient in day-to-day operations, practices, and enterprise-wide transformation efforts.
  • Enable standardized adoption of agile practices in the organization and provide knowledge and expertise around agile processes.
  • Oversee the coaching of teams within the framework of the established agile methodology, specific to the Platform Operating Model (POM).
  • Oversee the institutionalization of Organizational Change Management (OCM) throughout initiatives to ensure effective user adoption and change enablement.
  • Direct the enhancement of OCM practices by leveraging best practices and integrating feedback, ensuring the OCM function aligns with and supports strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy in partnership with HR, ensuring regular updates and strategic alignment with leadership on initiatives impacting employees.
  • Define and communicate critical OCM metrics to monitor and report the success of change initiatives, ensuring transparent evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to support the definition and enablement of the platform talent strategy and roadmap to cater to business platform and IT needs.
  • Lead the creation and continuous refinement of a technology knowledge framework and supporting processes that enable the structured capture, maintenance, and dissemination of organizational knowledge.
  • Ensure the development and availability of high-quality knowledge management systems and processes that are robust, user-friendly, and effective.
  • Oversee the mechanisms that ensure knowledge resources are available to employees, enhancing productivity and delivery.
  • Drive the governance of cross-platform initiatives to enable the POM transformation and oversee the standardization of platform governance.
  • Design and manage a decision-making framework to facilitate efficient reporting, tracking, and resolution of critical cross-platform issues.
  • Mentor program managers, platform teams, and product teams in agile IT governance and continuous improvement, fostering an environment of learning and adaptation.
  • Recruit, hire, retain, and develop a team of professionals to support agile operations, organization change management, talent management, knowledge management, and platform governance.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with functional and business unit management, key suppliers, internal and external peers, and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manage the interrelationships between business capabilities, strategies, and technology solutions.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain the capital and expense budgets for the organization.
  • Serve as leadership support to organizational VP and lead special assignments when needed
Education DescriptionYour experience will include: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
ExperienceYour experience will include:
  • Requires minimum of 8 to 10 years of management experience with a proven track record of organizational success, preferably in agile organizations.
  • Requires minimum of 8 to 10 years of functional work experience in Business Operations, Information Technology Operations, and/or related field.
  • Requires minimum of 5 to 7 years of demonstrated leadership in a product-oriented organization.
  • Experience and understanding of the electric and gas utility operation, or other similar regulated industries, demonstrating an ability to navigate and excel in regulated environments.
  • Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software, and agile development approaches.
  • Proven leadership and management skills with multi-disciplinary teams. Possession of recognized Agile certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe Agilist (SA)) or extensive work experience in common agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Experience in leading and sustaining Agile transformations across large organizations, with demonstrated ability to embed Agile values and practices at all levels of the organization.
