A. Participates in Behavioral Treatment Plan of Students / Resident
1. Conducts groups as assigned under the supervision and direction of a licensed professional
2. Assists in maintenance of therapeutic milieu, e.g., reflective listening, non-punitive redirection, self-esteem building responses, etc.
3. Uses appropriate behavior modification / intervention techniques to manage inappropriate behavior, e.g., points, rewards, physical holdings, assist with restraints
4. Records activities and behavioral observations and assessments daily, e.g, progress notes, point sheets

B. Develop and Implement Educational Component of Treatment Plan
1. Reviews social history, psychological, educational tests of new students
2. Attends master treatment meeting to identify goals and interventions for each problem and provides input for incorporating educational goal into plan
3. Modifies or develops Individual Educational Plan based on results of educational assessments and/or refers for testing as needed
4. Based on determined subjects, identifies instructional materials which are skill-level appropriate
5. Prepares lesson plan to meet educational goals and objectives and revises as necessary
6. Provides daily classroom instruction utilizing various training and behavioral techniques to meet individual needs
7. Evaluates students performance by testing, grading classroom work and observing demonstrated skills
8. Completes educational records and reports, e.g., report cards, forms of OT, discharge summaries, student contracts, etc.

C. Participates in Development / Educational Activities
1. Obtains required number of annual training hours
2. May present in-service training to other staff
3. Attends and participates in staff meetings
4. Participates in orientation of new staff
5. Utilizes and accepts constructive feedback to improve practice

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor degree in Education

Willing to work on ALP (alternate learning plan)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Teaching Certificate from the Arkansas Department of Education

Eligible for certification in Special Education
