Mission of the Position
The Sr./Director, Global Procurement is responsible for overseeing and leading our procurement operations, supporting both the Finance and Development Operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, contract management, and strategic sourcing, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Lead the procurement team in sourcing, negotiating, and contracting for goods and services, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Key member of the Finance department and Procure-to-Pay cycle managing supplier contracts, including review, negotiation, and renewal processes as well as sourcing and managing vendors for general and administrative expenses.
- Strong business partner with the Development Operations department to support procurement needs related to clinical trials, including sourcing and managing vendors for clinical supplies and services.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to ensure vendor set-up in Oracle and to ensure timely requisition approvals for purchase orders and change orders to minimize workflow bottlenecks to improve DPO (days payable outstanding).
- Collaborate with the legal team to ensure procurement activities are aligned with legal contract review policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors, driving supplier performance and accountability, with ability to enhance ERP automation and reporting.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to optimize procurement processes and reduce expenses.
- Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on procurement-related matters, including contract terms and supplier selection.
- Ensure adherence to procurement best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, including creation of best practices and procedures for business partners to leverage in request for proposals as well as appropriate documentation to support the Company’s SOX404 compliance.
- Monitor and analyze procurement metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Deliver periodic reporting on PO spend relative to budget for internal customers to help drive awareness, keeping current with external vendors and overall compliance to company policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies in procurement and supply chain management.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Expertise in Oracle Fusion and procurement software and tools, and contract management platforms.
- Expertise of procurement best practices, regulations, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of public company environment and SOX 404 compliance requirements.
- Possess strong interpersonal and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management.
- Ability to successfully drive and manage procurement operations and lead cross-functional teams.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with specific experience in contract management and strategic sourcing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
- Proven experience in sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and supplier collaboration.
- Certification in procurement (CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
Work Location
The Sr/ Director, Global Procurement is a remote role based in the US, with infrequent (<10%) travel to our headquarters in Boston, MA.
