QUALIFICATIONS:Massachusetts teacher certifiable in elementary education, grades Pre-K – 2 with and without disabilities.Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.Ability to work with a diverse population.Knowledge of inclusive instruction and response to intervention helpful. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Manage classroom activities, including lessons, play, breaks and meals.Effectively communicate with students and caregivers.Create plans for daily activities consistent with the district’s curriculum.Engage with young children in activities that are age-appropriate whilst bearing educational merit.Foster a positive and healthy learning environment.Ensure the classroom is kept clean and safe at all times.Encourage creative thinking and learning.Interact with other teachers and administrative staff as needed.Communicate with parents regarding child development and progress.Monitor and evaluate students’ progress.Perform other duties as assigned. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:Abide by state statutes, policies and regulations.Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.Remain current on instructional practices in Pre-K education.
