The Coordinator will determine and coordinate support services to students, maintain compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and act as liaison between students and faculty in coordinating accessibility plans.Please include unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Will be required to submit official copies of transcripts before start date.This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described. Conducts student intake process and paperwork, including review and evaluation of disability documentation to determine students' eligibility for services and appropriate accommodations.Maintain and monitor outreach and access to services for curriculum, continuing education, basic skills and dual enrolled students in Chatham, Lee and Harnett Counties.Maintain details, accurate and current records regarding documentation and accommodations for students with disabilities.Inform faculty/staff of needed accommodations.Assists students in requesting and arranging instructional, technical, facility, and other resource accommodations.Arranges service implementation and accommodations with various campuses and programs.Participate in assigned committees to support ADA compliance.Provides occasional coverage on each campus site as needed or by appointment.Keeps abreast of state-of-art technology, techniques, laws, services, and philosophy relevant to disability areas.Work with Academic Assistance to support student assisted testing and alternative testing. Promotes positive student self-advocacy skills and acts as an advocate for student needs with faculty and staff when necessary.Develops and implements internal/external workshops that will educate future/current students, faculty, and staff regarding disability services.Provides liaison, consultation, and referral services for students to community agencies and professionals.Promotes disability awareness and helps the College's faculty, staff, and students develop positive attitudes toward disability.Participates in college internal/external outreach events. which may include occasional evening and weekend hours.Ability to travel between campuses.Complete the annual five-hour staff development requirement.Performs other related tasks as required.Recognizing and respecting the variety of experiences and contributions represented by all of our students, employees, and community, the Coordinator of Student Accessibility Services will encourage a learning environment where everyone is supported and valued for their unique perspectives and experiences and will foster and promote the participation of all members of our diverse communities
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Master's degree in Disabilities, Special Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Assistive Technology, or a related fieldOne-year experience working with students with disabilities in a secondary or post-secondary educational environment Experience with the interpretation of psychological, educational, and/or medical documentation required for the determination of accommodations
