This position supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization. The Sports & Rec Specialist provides various youth programs in their area of specialty, for a group of children including teens. The Sports & Rec Specialist assures an environment of trust and respect for all, in line with the YMCA of the USA guidelines and Association policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Demonstrates the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in relationships with colleagues, members, volunteers, vendors and guests.
• Implements energizing, fun, safe, and educational programs in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans and curriculum accordingly with room for flexibility.
• Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall youth development experience.
• Addresses parental concerns and questions in a professional manner.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and/or supplies and the cleanliness and safety of the instructional area and any materials.
• Maintains physical presence, remains alert at all times while on duty, maintains constant visual attention to participants, and remains aware of community surroundings.
• Knows, follows, and enforces all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, and those for the prevention of child abuse and the rule of three.
• Actively participates in all staff meetings, open houses and other promotional events to promote the program(s).
