Central Counties Services is seeking an individual who is motivated to learn and expand on any current maintenance skills they may have to serve as a Maintenance Specialist in support of facility operations. The successful candidate will work within a team setting that will provide training and support while learning the position. When ready, the selected candidate will be able to perform work independently as job demands arise.

General DescriptionPerforms highly complex (senior-level) general facility and building maintenance and repair work. Work involves building repair, renovation, restoration, and alteration for the designated trade skill. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with internal and external customers Center projects that involve general facility and building maintenance and repair work to ensure minimal impact on daily service delivery and efficient use of resources.
  • Performs maintenance, repair, or inspection work on electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and mechanical equipment and systems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Routinely inspects structures, evaluates work to be performed, and determines the best method for performing maintenance and repair work. Uses standard problem solving strategies and comprehensive assessment processes to achieve positive outcomes. Maintains a proactive approach to all maintenance processes and informs Maintenance Supervisor of all needed or completed maintenance issues.
  • Inspects equipment, machinery, systems, and building accessories and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair to ensure safety of staff and maximum use of Center resources.
  • Assesses project/process needs with regard to materials and equipment, calculates material needs, and informs Maintenance Supervisor of the parts and supplies needed to complete work orders.
  • Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains furniture systems. Moves Center furniture as associated with approved staff/programmatic moves.
  • Utilizes the Maintenance Care System effectively and timely to respond to and record all maintenance requests and required information associated with the completion of the project/task.
  • Operates motorized vehicles and equipment related to assigned maintenance activities. Assists the fleet manager with vehicle maintenance as assigned.
  • Performs all work with a high degree of competence and independence, utilizing standard and proven methods in all required maintenance activities.
  • Provides on call coverage to the Center on an assigned basis for after hours and weekends-responding appropriately and timely to requests from Center staff.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptness are required for the 8-5 work day or agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program’s processes.
  • Professional Development - Successfully complete training required to maintain skill competency and cross training to ensure consistency across program procedures. Complete continuing education as required by professional standards and the Center.
  • Frequent daily driving within the catchment area is required.
General QualificationsExperience and Education
  • Experience in general facility and building maintenance and repair work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent. Supplemented by vocational training in a designated trade, is generally preferred.
  • Ability to trouble shoot minor electrical shorts and confidently use a multi meter/volt meter. Knowledge in the repairs of basic plumbing fixtures i.e. faucets, P-Traps, wax seals, backflow systems. General maintenance repairs i.e. Drywall repairs, floor repairs, replacement of doors, door hinges, light switch or electrical outlet replacement, trouble shoot and repair of appliance from electric ranges to dryers and washer machines.

  • Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings and equipment; of building materials; and of fire and safety regulations.
  • Selecting appropriate tools and equipment, and in troubleshooting situations to determine appropriate actions to resolve problems.
  • To apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment; to interpret drawings, diagrams, and blueprints; to communicate effectively; and to supervise the work of others.
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment, in troubleshooting causes for maintenance issues, in prioritizing work schedules, and in monitoring and inspecting the work performed by staff and contractors.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize computer programs, e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook and Maintenance W/O systems.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk effectively within job requirements.
  • Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to effectively handle potentially aggressive behavior in a positive manner.
Relationship Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work behavior must be compatible with Center value statement and Policies and Procedures Manual contributing to an environment of problem solving, building trust, conflict resolution, and customer service.
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work and implement directives without constant supervision.
  • Ability to present a professional appearance and conduct when representing the Center.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively with supervisor, individuals, co-workers, and groups of persons at all levels of activity, contributing to a strong spirit of teamwork.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other agencies and the general public using tact, courtesy and good judgment.
Additional Requirements
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers’ license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Regular attendance and reliability is critical to business operations.
