Central Electric Cooperative, Inc. is Hiring a Safety Professional Near Parker, PA

Central Electric Cooperative is searching for a Safety Professional to develop, oversee and have working knowledge of related programs within OSHA, FMSCA and EPA compliance. This position actively supports safety in Central’s vision statement, values, and strategic initiatives. Candidate must have the ability to serve as an advisor on safety related topics, establish and maintain effective working relationships and present technical safety education to groups. A successful candidate should possess experience with safety and risk management coordination. Candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, detail oriented, organized, can effectively manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work independently are requirements. Supervisory experience and electric cooperative or electric industry experience are pluses. Certified Safety Professional, Certified Utility Safety Professional, Certified Loss Control Professional certifications are pluses also.

A bachelor's degree in health & safety, safety management, industrial hygiene or related field with 5 years’ experience is preferred. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The following are job duties:

  • Acts in the capacity of Safety Coordinator for the Cooperative.
  • Develop and administer the organization’s safety program in compliance with OSHA and other organizations.
  • Responsible for conducting, safety inspections, field visits and accident investigations.
  • Responsible for organizing safety committee, serving as ex-officio member, and providing information as the safety subject matter expert.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of processes and procedures which will ensure the application and administration of safe work practices including maintenance of the safety manual.
  • Manages and administers the hazardous materials program at the Cooperative.
  • Presents safety orientation to new employees including initial hazardous materials training and conduct contractor safety orientation/ system hazard notification.
  • Identifies, plans, and coordinates all safety related training for CEC.
  • Coordinates safety education (examples-Hot Line Demo, Safety City, Safety Stand Down Day, etc.)
  • Works with appropriate departmental supervision in the selection of PPE.
  • Acts as the RESAP Coordinator for the Cooperative.
  • Develop and administer the organization’s loss control program in compliance with OSHA regulations and other organizations including administration of property loss and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Utilize Cooperative employees and capital resources in a manner which promotes and ensures efficiency and cost effectiveness while employing additional safety-related resources, as necessary.
  • Develop and implement departmental budget and work plan.
  • Ensure proper records retention in all areas of responsibility.
  • Takes initiative to provide input and design of programs to accomplish objectives of position.
  • Develops and oversees budget for all safety related matters.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
