Position Summary Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair on electronic and computer equipment, and for design, construction, installation and modification of electronic and computer equipment to support college instruction, and for overseeing proper use of electronic and computer within the college.
Required Qualifications Education equivalent to completion of high school plus electronic/computer/technology oriented education equivalent to at least two years of formal training at the university or trade school level.
At least three years of increasingly responsible experience involving preventive and repair maintenance of electronic and computer equipment.
At least one year of experience involving the design, fabrication, and installation of electronic and computer equipment, including software.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.
Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Exhibits excellent time management skills for preventative maintenance schedules as well as crisis repair management.
Demonstrates the ability to apply technical knowledge to the design and integration of current sophisticated electronic devices.
Possesses a good understanding of computer software.
Duties & Responsibilities
Schedule student and faculty use of college multimedia equipment.
Performs repair and/or preventive maintenance on electronic and computer equipment.
Maintains maintenance and equipment performance records.
Modifies and/or alters existing electronic and computer equipment to achieve specific objectives of laboratory or classroom projects.
Designs, fabricates and/or integrates sophisticated electronic and computer devices for laboratory and classroom use.
Advises administrative supervision regarding repair, maintenance, or purchase recommendations for electronic and computer equipment and supporting accessories.
Installs electronic and computer equipment, and technological accessories including software and cabling connections.
Advises administrative supervisor on matters regarding the purchase and physical arrangements of new electronic equipment and accessories including software and cabling connections.

The Department of Physics at Central Michigan University has 11 tenure/tenure-track and 2 fixed-term faculty members and serves a diverse population and first-generation students. The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Astronomy & Astrophysics and in Physics, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics. Faculty in the department have strong research programs, having secured external funding of more than $3.2 million in FY 2023. Current research areas encompass both theoretical and experimental work including nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, and condensed matter physics.
