Profile of a Natick Educator

JOB GOAL: The PowerSchool Administrator reports directly to the Data Manager and is responsible for being the lead support person for our SIS system and various other third-party applications that integrate with it, ensuring data accuracy and data reporting to all stakeholders in a timely fashion. The Administrator will oversee the use, training, and state reporting needs of these systems across the school district and town. This includes but is not limited to; various data entry and validation tasks, auditing and documenting of internal processes and controls, and protecting the integrity, security, and data privacy of all data. 

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing the administration of a student information system in a K-12 school. 
  • Minimum of 3 years administering in the PowerSchool SIS environment.
  • Experience with MA state reporting requirements and schedule.
  • Experience with Google productivity apps. 
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.
  • Team player who can effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience dealing with outside vendors.

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff and community engagement and cultivation

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate

Skills:

  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
  • Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
  • Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
  • Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
  • Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production

Alternative degrees/experience may be substituted for the above at the discretion of the Superintendent if such a substitution brings a strong candidate forward.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Phone, intercom, personal computer and software applications as outlined above, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers and fax machine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the student information system used by the district, currently PowerSchool SIS.
  • Maintain and share a library of process and procedure documents used to support our users.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Data Team to ensure accurate and timely state reporting including SIMS, EPIMS, and SSDR. 
  • Manage our parent portal. This includes when it is open/closed and the content available when open.
  • Knowledge of PS Enrollment and Unified Classroom Special Programs.
  • System Administrator for TeachPoint and Moodle.
  • Provide support to staff sending messages using SchoolMessenger.
  • Research, recommend, and implement the necessary PowerSchool customizations and enhancements to improve the user experience and meet the district's needs. 
  • Provide PowerSchool training to new and existing faculty, staff, and administrators. 
  • Respond to support tickets assigned to the team within the SLA time. These tickets include those submitted to our PowerSchool Support and Parent Portal Support email addresses.
  • Preserve and expand policies to ensure data integrity, data security, and data privacy is maintained. 
  • Support and train faculty, staff, and administrators on systems used to administer MCAS testing.
  • Work with vendors to solve problems by opening and following up on tickets.
  • Explore data integrations to facilitate automation.
  • Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to working on projects with our town partners and providing backup across the Data Team to support other systems including ClassLink, MySchoolBucks, Visitor Management, IncidentIQ, Frontline, Transversa, Naviance, PowerPTC, Pickup Patrol, TurnItIn, SNAP and others.

  • multitask and meet multiple demands from several people;
  • may need to teach and support students with life skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting 
  • lifting up to and including 25 lbs
  • the noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
