POSITION: Construction Site Worker

REPORTS TO: Project Planner, Site Supervisor

Employee Status: Full Time - Exempt

There is some flexibility in the schedule to meet employees’ needs.

Job Description: This position will implement construction plans using blueprints, under the direction of the Site Supervisor and the Project Manager. Work with families, volunteers, and committees to promote understanding of the project and schedule while ensuring a quality build. In addition to quality control, this person is responsible for creating a safe working area.

Work with skilled and unskilled volunteers to provide quality experience and products.

Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required, with significant residential construction experience. Trade school graduates encouraged to apply. Skilled in Framing and trim carpentry.
  • Desire and ability to motivate and teach construction skills to people with a variety of personalities, ages, and backgrounds.
  • General knowledge of residential construction, job site safety, building codes, and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Ability to stay positive, focused, and task-oriented while leading the sub-contractor and volunteer experience for groups of people on the construction job site.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check.

Competencies:

  • Solid knowledge of residential construction.
  • Solid knowledge of applicable residential building codes.
  • Work as an effective and proactive team player. Collaboration, networking, and relationship-building skills are important.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Strong sense of initiative, flexibility, discretion, and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict.
  • Ability to make decisions and creatively solve problems independently and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach building techniques to homeowners and volunteers of all skill levels is required. Must be able to work with people of varying socioeconomic levels and communicate assigned tasks or convey necessary information to staff and volunteers.
  • A willingness to work weekends and irregular hours, as required.
  • Must possess a positive, optimistic outlook that fosters an upbeat work environment and contributes to a positive volunteer experience.
  • Willingness to use our construction management program (Co Construct).
  • Provide consultation and assistance, as requested, to CVHfH Committees.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively in both construction site and office environments.
  • Ability to maneuver typical construction site obstacles.
  • Ability to climb, jump, lift, reach, carry minimum of 50 pounds, as required.
