Responsibilities

  • Communicate with patient and health insurance companies to ensure prompt payment
  • Reviews and updates patient insurance information
  • Evaluates claims to determine when additional attention is needed and proceed accordingly
  • Updates information and re-bills when necessary
  • Works aged accounts to ensure patient data is accurate and complete
  • Contacts insurance companies as necessary to follow up on claims processing
  • May work with industrial insurance carriers

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping, Microsoft Word, Excel and computer software
  • Some billing experience, medical terminology and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is helpful
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a demanding environment
  • Ability to prioritize, use good judgement and work independently in demanding environment.
  • Exhibit clear attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness in billing process
