Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

POSITION SUMMARY

Supervises all skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled Maintenance Workers in the repair and maintenance of all properties including airport buildings, grounds, and airfield, and does related work as required. The work of this class requires the ability to plan, lay-out, and direct maintenance and repair operations and entails responsibility for the efficiency of operations and quality of workmanship. This position must check the work carefully both in process and upon completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises and leads in the work of all maintenance workers in the repair of buildings and in the maintenance of grounds and airfield area.
  • Gives instructions relative to work orders and repair work.
  • Assigns personnel to specific repair jobs in accordance with their respective abilities and skills.
  • As a working supervisor plans, coordinates, supervises and controls, on an on-going basis all resources required to maintain an effective maintenance program.
  • Observes performance of assigned personnel and makes reports to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Determines maintenance priorities based on work schedules, working conditions, and employee capabilities, and ensures assignments are completed within specified time limits and with the efficient use of resources.
  • Serves as Snow Chief- who directs the snow removal team ensuring that the runway remains open.
  • Assures that personnel follow Rules and Regulations of CRW Airport and all applicable Operating Instructions.
  • Supervises the operation of all equipment and periodically checks equipment for proper working operation, plus any damage incurred during use of this equipment.
  • Must operate and train in the operation of the NAC-DFT device for airfield braking action reports and be able to issue all applicable NOTAMs for the airport.
  • Ensure that all personnel maintain a professional appearance and wear appropriate uniforms and proper personal protective equipment when applicable for their job assignments.
  • Take periodic inventory checks to ensure that inventory is accurately maintained.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Organize, implement, and direct the facility operations and activities of all maintenance workers. Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff. Interpret and explain pertinent department policies and procedures. Perform the most complex maintenance duties and operate related equipment. Develop and recommend systems and procedures related to assigned operations. Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
