ROLE:The Crisis Intervention Specialist position is for individuals who are interested in helping others and making a contribution to their community. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will provide evidence-informed information and referrals, brief supportive counseling, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, and follow-up services to individuals who contact the program in emotional distress and/or seeking information on available services. The position provides an opportunity to gain a wide range of clinical skills, and knowledge of the expanding field of behavioral health.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and a minimum of 6 years’ experience in behavioral health.
• Associate degree in behavioral health or related field and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in behavioral health or;
• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in behavioral health or;
• Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in behavioral health

JOB SUMMARY:Receive and answer incoming calls from clients in the community seeking crisis assistance. Utilize crisis assessment and intervention skills. Make outbound calls, emails, text or chat to effectively coordinate care and resolve crisis situations through identification of community resources. Effectively screen incoming requests using the risk assessment tools provided; and seek clinical consultation for triage services and health education, when necessary.
