Description
Apply food science knowledge to provide product development support and technical services to customers, sales, purchasing, regulatory, quality control, and operations. Manage team member(s) and direct expanded technology. Promote company values and beliefs while performing job tasks.
Essential Duties:
· Manage direct expanded technology and team members to include project management.
· Attend/assist in trials and scale up to ensure compliance and runnability of approved formulas.
· Manage commercialization of products from R&D to production including developing specifications for new products based on customer needs.
· Evaluate and validate ingredients/processes/formulations within technology.
· Troubleshoot and provide technical assistant to production personnel.
· Requires “hands on” bench top sample development, including operating pilot extruder.
· Track projects and complete paperwork/reports/projects within timelines.
· Reach out to current and potential suppliers and gather preliminary information to ensure compliance of ingredients.
· Stay technically informed through suppliers, shows and literatures.
· Administration duties including general housekeeping, labeling, organizing, shipping, and other related areas expected.
· Approximately 10% travel – tradeshows/customer visits/training opportunities.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to handle multiple tasks, capable of prioritizing and planning work activities, excellent verbal and written communication, demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness with the ability to improve and promote quality and safety.
Requirements
Education:
· BS in Food Science or closely related field required.
· Minimum 3 years relevant work experience required.
· Knowledge and experience in product development of direct expanded technology required.
· Proficient in Word and Excel and other database management preferred.

Working Environment and Physical Demands
Indoors temperature controlled environment-office, laboratory, manufacturing facility; the use of hearing protection may be required at times, along with other personal protective equipment as necessary. Ability to identify various fragrances, scents, and aromas and be able to differentiate between them. Ability to differentiate between various textures grains and consistencies. Must possess the physical abilities to perform a Level 3 Medium Work Job as defined by the U. S. Department of Labor. Position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders and steps, manual dexterity, ability to see details at close range and to differentiate colors, ability to communicate information verbally, ability to read and understand ideas presented in writing.
