Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Plant Manager REPORTS TO: Director of Operations LOCATION: WausauThis position directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, and other production-related activities.
Key Result Areas
  • Demonstrates ethical leadership qualities in the improvement of Safety, Quality, and Cost and Delivery performance measures for the facility.
  • Directs and manages plant operations for production, scheduling, maintenance, quality, engineering, and shipping and receiving.
  • Cooperates with management team in formulating and establishing company policies and operating procedures.
  • Leads, evaluates, coaches and trains manufacturing personnel.
  • Coordinates plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develops and controls profits, plans, and budget.
  • Implements cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.
  • Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures.
  • Controls and minimizes labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
  • Maintains existing plant facilities and equipment.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization and plan cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provides direction, development, and leadership to production supervisor.
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and Supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
  • Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and Human Resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions.
Education / Experience
  • Prefer candidates with a BA/BS in Business Administration or related degree; or four to ten years related experience and/or training in relevant industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Qualifications RequiredThe type of experience required to effectively perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this position are:
  • A minimum of 5 (five) years in progressive commercial foodservice, or industry related assignments is required.
  • A minimum of 3 (three) years supervisory/management experience required.
  • Well-developed knowledge of the injection and rotational manufacturing methods a plus.
  • Understanding of manufacturing industry processes and procedures with hands on experience.
  • Demonstrable ability to apply strategic vision to an organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, work under pressure with challenging deadlines while delivering high quality results.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and 5S processes.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
Travel Required
  • Up to 10% travel, in support of corporate initiatives
