Chaminade College Preparatory is Hiring a Facilities Manager - Middle School Near Chatsworth, CA

Chaminade College Preparatory seeks an experienced Facilities Manager to join our Facilities Management Team.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and directing of all daily activities related to building maintenance, grounds maintenance, event coordination, and security for Chaminade's middle school campus. The Facilities Manager also manages construction/renovation projects as directed by the Director of Facilities. The Facilities Manager supervises the school's maintenance, events, and grounds staff and coordinates supervision of outsourced janitorial and campus security services.

The Position - Representative Duties

  • Supports the philosophy, principles, and characteristics of Marianist education. Assists in assuring quality services to students, faculty, staff, parents, outside organizations, and the community.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for the high school campus for all matters involving buildings, grounds, events, janitorial, and security services.
  • Collaborates with department staff and high school faculty, staff, and administration regarding campus facilities and event planning and execution. Occasionally works as part of a larger facilities management team to support both campuses.
  • Prepares and implements short and long-term goals and objectives for high school building, grounds, events, security, and department staff.
  • Communicates facilities initiatives, policies, and procedures to employees, students, vendors, and guests.
  • Supervises the daily activities of the Facilities department staff. Monitors department performance metrics, including the work order system, to ensure work is completed correctly, efficiently, effectively, and in a timely manner and that resources are deployed appropriately. Performs regular formal evaluation of all department staff.
  • Conducts regular meetings with department leads to coordinate weekly schedules to ensure effective use of labor and materials.
  • Manages and reviews service contracts, including contract labor, and related performance of services. Conducts searches, critiques, and negotiates new and/or renewing service contracts.
  • Maintains positive vendor working relationships.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations, relevant education code regulations, local and state building codes, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Performs daily inspections of the campus to ensure safety and function of the buildings and grounds.
  • Conducts monthly safety training classes for Facilities staff. Each session shall be recorded and logged.
  • Develops preventive maintenance manuals and schedules.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of Facilities calendar.
  • Manages construction/renovation projects as directed by the Director of Facilities. Works on other facilities related projects as assigned.
  • Responds to emergency situations as needed and works closely with the campus emergency management team on facilities related concerns.
  • Distributes and tracks of campus keys and alarm codes.
  • Develops, administers, and tracks the high school facilities budget, including timely submission of approved invoices and bills for payment.
  • Orders, maintains inventory control, and monitors utilization rates of campus furniture and supplies for office, maintenance, grounds, and janitorial needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education and Experience Preferred

Qualified candidates should have a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business, or Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in the building trades, including five (5) years of experience supervising maintenance staff.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Passion for Chaminade's mission and the Characteristics of a Marianist Education.
  • Embraces a servant-leader approach to effectively leads and manages staff.
  • Knowledge of construction/renovation planning and scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of building mechanical systems, including, but not limited to HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and plumbing.
  • Working knowledge of architectural and construction processes; including plan specifications, bidding processes, cost and budget estimates, and space analysis.
  • Understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and construction drawings and plans.
  • Ability to manage projects and to multi-task while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Conscientious in execution of duties with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain a work order management system.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work with and manage competing facilities related needs and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, and vendors. Ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor while working with others.
  • Ability to quickly recognize and respond to emergency situations calmly.
  • Ability to manage budgets and other allocated resources.
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also as a member of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.


Salary and Benefits

This is a salaried/exempt from overtime position. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. The expected salary range for the position is $ 75,000 to $ 90,000 annually.
