Hiring Manager : VP, Purchasing

Summary:

Reporting directly to the VP of Purchasing, the Buyer is accountable for procurement and production planning. The Buyer is responsible for master scheduling, capacity planning, detailed production planning, vendor resource planning, resolving vendor matters, and implementing raw material strategies that achieve service and costs objectives. This role will support budget setting activities, publish supplier performance, and report out other supply chain metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates Center purchasing through planning and budget control.
• Justifies selection of services through competitive pricing guidelines in conjunction procurement policies and procedures.
• Verifies terminology and specifications of purchase requests.
• Creates statement of work for construction, services and supplies to include the bidding package.
• Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates, and awards contract to supplier with best bid.
• Uses computer system to maintain purchase orders, research possible vendors, and other purchasing related actions.
• Ensures the proper preparation and maintenance of records and files.
• Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
• Assisting with long term planning, strategy development, and continuous improvement of assigned spend categories.
• Researching and qualifying new vendors.
• Assisting with identifying competitive sources, seeking pricing and delivery schedules, selecting suppliers, and placing orders.
• Developing and implements sourcing, negotiating and contracting strategies to achieve the desired outcomes aligned with department and corporate metrics.
• Responsible for helping to develop procurement processes and systems to help achieve Corporate, Business Unit, and plant procurement objectives and metrics.
• Will support necessary purchasing systems training.
• Implementing Statements of Work for inbound services
• Plan vendor resources for assigned direct and indirect materials
• Provide supplier(s) performance ratings for assigned raw materials/supplier base
• Responsible for maintaining ERP master data of selected raw materials and vendors
• Contribute to budget setting activities of designated raw materials
• Facilitate vendor activities required to qualify raw materials; ensuring adherence to internal and external compliance requirements
• Implements raw material and WIP inventory strategies
• May require travel up to 10% of the time

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
• Experience with NAVISION or similar ERP would be strongly preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills, analytical skills, and decision-making skills.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all input.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with vendors.

Education

Associate's degree in business, finance, marketing or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in purchasing or procurement.
