Position Overview :

As a Quality Control Technician for Team Sports Equipment, you will be an essential part of the quality control and product development teams. You will become an expert in product requirements and testing, which includes reading and understanding specifications and test standards, and knowing how to precisely operate specialized mechanical test equipment in order to evaluate the performance and compliance of our products. You will perform inspections and mechanical testing on products and prototypes, analyze and communicate test results to the team, and maintain the lab area and equipment. In our busy lab environment, it is a “must” to be an organized and flexible multi-tasker as we work efficiently to meet the need of our customers and internal team.

In this role, your efforts will contribute to the production of high-quality team sports equipment, ensuring customer satisfaction and the integrity of the brand. You will play a vital role in upholding quality standards and strengthening our reputation for product quality. We in the quality control team strive for excellence and absolute reliability in service to our internal CHAMPRO team members, to our customers, and to the end-users of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Inspection of team sports equipment
    • Take measurements and perform visual evaluations for quality
    • Design and carry out mechanical tests on our team sports equipment product line and prototypes to evaluate performance
    • Record data accurately and thoroughly
    • Assist with investigations when nonconformities are found
  2. Communication of test results and inspection findings
    • Summarize results and elevate for attention when defects or irregularities are found
    • Include notes and photos for clarity to facilitate follow-up action and continuous improvement
  3. Creation of Standard Operating Procedures
    • Write procedural SOPs to document practices and create consistency across quality control team
    • Define, implement, and periodically review SOPs to continually improve accuracy and consistency
    • Identify critical qualities of each equipment category and create specific inspection guides to supplement specifications
  4. Maintenance of lab equipment
    • Maintain internal calibration records and schedule
    • Investigate and implement best practices for care and use of equipment
    • Work with internal team and external lab partners to troubleshoot as needed
    • Document issues in order to compile an internal knowledge base
  5. Develop systems and procedures in the lab and with other internal teams that lead to greater efficiency and quick turnaround times
    • Organize inspection and testing to complete within deadline
    • Work with warehouse to quickly and accurately return product to inventory and manage defective inventory
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Engineering or a related field with 2-5 years of experience related to mechanical testing and equipment maintenance in a lab or R&D environment OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field with 0-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Possess strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and are comfortable working with hand and power tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email
  • Self-starter and have the ability to take ownership of the position
